It’s an exciting space that transforms from a low-key hangout during the day to a performance venue at night. Walking through the Mardi Gras Cruise Ship, I couldn’t help but be captivated by its breathtaking centerpiece, the Grand Central Atrium. This three-deck-high space is adorned with 3,000-square-foot glass panels, offering the best ocean views on the ship. During the day, it’s a low-key hangout spot where you can relax and enjoy the ocean views. I love how the Grand Central Atrium on the Mardi Gras Cruise Ship offers themed zones like the French Quarter and La Piazza, creating a unique and immersive experience.

And with Carnival known as the “Fun Ships,” you better believe there are plenty of spots where you can grab an adult beverage and let loose. Though basic coffee and tea is available for free on Carnival, you’ll pay extra for specialty beverages like lattes, frappes, cappuccinos, and milkshakes. So if you order a drink with a $10 menu price, you’ll actually pay $11.80 in total. Drink package, then the 18% gratuity is added onto the daily cost of the package instead (and you’re charged nothing at the bar). The primary difference between Carnival Cruise Line and most other mainstream cruise lines is that they don't offer unlimited beverages. Carnival's drink package is fixed at 15 alcoholic beverages per day, which is why you will see a significant price difference.
They include lemonade, iced tea, milk, regular and decaf coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate, and ice water. At breakfast, juices such as orange, apple, cranberry, and pineapple/orange/guava (also known as POG) are also available. Carnival's wine policy remained unchanged, allowing passengers to bring 1 bottle of wine/champagne per person (750 ml, unopened, in carry-on luggage). Also unchanged is the rule about bringing distilled water onboard, excluding only passengers who need it for babies or CPAP machines ("continuous positive airway pressure").
Most wines fall within the $10 to $13 per glass range, making them accessible for guests looking to enjoy a glass of their favorite vintage. Yes, the drink packages are valid on Carnival’s private destinations, such as Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays. You can enjoy the same benefits and selections as when onboard the ship. For instance, bring a 12-pack of soda for each of the kids for a longer cruise. Each adult also can bring on board one 750-ml bottle of sealed/unopened wine or champagne in carry-on luggage.
The current bottled water price for 12-pack (16,9 fluid oz bottles) is USD 4.50 (plus 18% gratuity if ordered onboard) or over 10% increase. In January 2018, Carnival added a 15% delivery fee to any items pre-purchased from Fun Shops (prior departure). The list of not charged items include packages (Bottomless Bubbles, Cheers, Cruise Cash, Internet, water packages).
For the bars, that I don’t have a photo of, I will link you to a PDF copy of the menu on Carnival’s website. Unfortunately, Carnival do not show any prices on their PDF menus on their website, which is a bit of a pain. Whether you are a fan of exclusive craft beers, premium spirits, or carefully crafted cocktails, Carnival has you covered. It will also help plan ahead and you can work out if you might be better off purchasing the Cheers drink package.
